IN SCHOOL CLASSES

hands on labHands - On Lab:
Grades pre-K – 12
1-1.5 hours

Using preserved specimens, the instructor will present a large variety of marine organisms (e.g. sponge, crab, octopus, fish, stingray), detailing such information as habitat, diet, defense mechanisms, etc. Students will have the opportunity to touch the specimens and use microscopes.

Class size limit: 36 students

squidMarvelous Mollusks:
Grades 4-12
2-2.5 hours

Using specimens from the Phylum Mollusca (e.g. snails,
squid, octopus) the instructor will give a brief description of the organisms. Students will have the opportunity to touch and observe the specimens. This is followed by a studentperformed squid dissection (1 squid per 2 students).

An introduction to everything that is in ocean water from
plankton to pollution. Students will touch & observe
marine specimens, use microscopes and participate in an
activity related to watersheds, estuaries and pollution.
