Florida’s Gulf Coast is home to pristine rivers, bays teeming with marine life, beautiful sandy beaches, and the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico.  The diversity of habitats within this coastal ecosystem offer the opportunity for a variety of hands-on experiences for children of all ages.

Estuary Expedition:

Grades 4-12
3 Hours

Explore our local waters where the rivers meet the sea to
learn about life in an estuary, animals and plants living
there and watersheds that affect these ecosystems.
Students will sample the sound/bay using various field
equipment to identify invertebrates & vertebrates of the
estuary.
Contact instructor for recommended locations.
This is a wet activity Cost: $150

What to Bring and Wear:

  1. sunscreen
  2. shoes and clothes that can get wet and dirty (shoes must be worn at all times, no flip flops)
  3. water
  4. towel
  5. change of clothes

Sunshine State Benchmarks

Seashore Survey:

Grades K – 12
2-3 Hours

Introduction to beaches, barrier islands, dune systems,
intertidal communities and their residents. Students will
also learn about and collect shells, plants, and marine
debris.

Location: Pensacola Beach or other beach of your choice

Not a wet activity Cost: $150
